Rice Porridge

With this simple dessert you always score, whether it should be nice or just festive. With this recipe you can make the one and only traditional rice porridge!

Ingredients for Rice Porridge:


34 fl.oz. - 1 liter of whole milk, preferably fresh

4½ oz - 130 grams of dessert rice

2½ oz - 75 grams of granulated sugar

2 egg yolks

1 pinch of saffron

1 Vanilla pod

1 cinnamon stick optional

Brown sugar

How to make Rice Porridge:


Rinse the rice with water and drain.

Bring the milk to the boil in a large cooking pot.

Add the rice, along with the marrow from the vanilla pod, a little saffron and possibly a cinnamon stick to the milk.

Cook on low heat for about 30 minutes.

Stir occasionally.

Stir the egg yolks and granulated sugar into the rice pudding after cooking.

While still warm, divide the rice pudding in one bowl or several pots (as desired).

Then let it thicken and cool.

Serve lukewarm or cold with brown sugar.
